Cold Front 25 Will Affect the Weather in Mexico

A new cold front, number 25, will arrive in Mexico this Sunday, January 26, bringing adverse weather conditions to several regions of the country. According to the National Meteorological Service, this system will mainly affect the northwest and north of Mexico, with a combination of low temperatures, rainfall, and the possibility of snowfall in some areas.

It is expected that cold front 25 will generate rain with intervals of showers in Baja California, as well as isolated rain in Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. Snow or sleet is also anticipated in the Juárez and San Pedro Mártir mountains in Baja California. This system will be associated with a cyclonic circulation at mid and upper levels of the atmosphere, as well as with polar and subtropical jet streams, which will cause significant effects in the affected regions.

Regarding temperatures, a cool to cold environment is expected during the morning in Mexico City and the State of Mexico, with temperatures ranging from 0 to 5 °C and possible frost in high areas of the State of Mexico. In the afternoon, a mild to warm environment is forecasted with partly cloudy skies in Mexico City, with no probability of rain, minimum temperatures of 8 to 10 °C, and maximum temperatures of 23 to 25 °C.

Additionally, extremely low temperatures are expected in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango, creating a warm environment that could affect the daily lives of the residents. Strong gusts of wind with dust storms are also anticipated in these regions, which could reduce visibility and complicate travel conditions on roads.

On the other hand, a low-pressure channel in southeastern Mexico, along with the influx of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, will cause rain with showers in Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, as well as the possibility of snow in the Juárez and San Pedro Mártir mountains in Baja California. It is important for the population to remain informed through official channels and follow the instructions of local authorities to prevent risks, especially in areas prone to snowfall or sleet.
